The Department of Commerce, Ajara Mahavidyalaya, Ajara conducted an Alumni Guest Lecture on Saturday, 25th July 2026.,Dr. R. D. Madhale, Associate Professor, delivered the welcome and introduction. The event was held in the esteemed presence of Dr. Kiran G. Potdar, I/C Principal, and Shri Yogesh Patil, Office Superintendent.
During his address, Mr. Vilas Balkrishna Pawar, Manager, Vidya Vardhini Urban Cooperative Credit Society, explained that the role of an auditor in the cooperative sector extends far beyond routine account checking. He highlighted that auditors ensure legal compliance, financial transparency, and operational efficiency within cooperative societies. He further elaborated that auditors verify financial records, examine loan and deposit procedures, check adherence to cooperative laws, and safeguard members’ funds. Their independent evaluation helps detect irregularities, prevent financial mismanagement, and build trust among members. This strengthens accountability and improves governance in cooperative institutions.
His practical insights offered Commerce students a clear understanding of how auditing contributes to the stability and credibility of cooperative societies.
An interactive Q&A session followed, allowing students to clarify concepts and engage directly with the speaker. The programme was anchored by Smt. Anuradha R. Magdum, Faculty Member, Department of Commerce. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Sachin Patil, acknowledging the contribution of the speaker, dignitaries, faculty, and students.
